The following hotspots highlight communal areas where germs can spread:
Lift buttons, doorknobs and hand railings
These are high-traffic areas, which should be given regular attention. People entering the building after a morning commute can bring a lot of germs into the office.
Kitchens
This is the communal area where staff congregate to prepare lunch, make a quick coffee or simply have a chat. Food and drink spillages, if not wiped away thoroughly, can be breeding ground for germs. Not only on countertops and floors, but in cupboards and fridges too.
Bathrooms
Toilets and hand basins are obvious places where germs and bacteria gather quickly. As most people are aware of this, it goes without saying, that this is an area that should be cleaned regularly. Read HSE guidelines on bathroom cleaning.
Office equipment
Shared items such as copier machines, franking machines, water coolers and vending machines are objects that colleagues will be touching throughout the day. A good office cleaning company will ensure that these surfaces are wiped clean too.
